I am a Microsoft Certified Professional and Solution Developer.  Applications are implemented using Microsoft development tools (Access, SQL Server and Visual Basic, VBA, Excel, Word, FrontPage, Outlook, Visual Interdev).  

A database simply stores information that you want to keep track of.  

An application  provides the user with a simple way to view and manipulate that information by using attractive and easy to use screens that display the information that is most meaningful to you.
